4S have been using concrete resources (cubes) to partition larger numbers into manageable chunks to multiply.

For example, 16 x 9 =

May become:10 x 9 = 90 or 5 x 9 = 45  or even 1 x 9 = 9

4S then use the column method to add them together and this then relates to our discovery of factor pairs.

Why not ask them about it!

Mrs Twiss is very proud of how they have grasped it and are making really good progress.
