Hawes Side joined other primary schools at a STEM event - Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Mrs Wright took a selection of year 4 pupils to take part in problem solving that will face all resident on the Fylde coast in the future.

They even made it to the Blackpool Gazette.

STEM Year 4 March 2024

Some of the children have written about their experience at the STEM event (see below):

On Friday 15th March, me and my friends went to STEM event at Blackpool and Fylde College.  We had an activity with Professor Pumpernickle who got a chemistry tube, put liquid in it, which made a 'popping' sound.  Then we made hearts, we had to polish them.

My name is Ivy and I went to a STEM event at Blackpool and Fylde College.  The reason why we went is because we made a model of solar energy to power the illuminations.  The best part was the Science Show and we saw experiments, which was so cool!  We even won with our project against the other schools and we were so proud.  Mrs Wright was really pleased with us and so was our class teacher, Mrs Hodgkinson.

My name is Olivia and I went to Blackpool and Fylde College with Mrs Wright.  When all the schools arrived we made some hearts, which was my favourite.  We also watched a show and it was funny.  The person in the show was Professor Pumpernickle but we could call him professor Pumperknickers!
