This week we have been taking advantage of the fabulous warm weather and carried out a scientific hunt around our school grounds for different types of soil.
We used our observation skills to see where healthy green plants and flowers were growing. We compared the different areas and the quality of plants and soil in those places. We drew conclusions based on our observations and we can now recommend where it is best to plant in our school grounds!
During our hunt, we found clay, sandy and loam soil, along with ideal growing conditions (not too much sun nor too much shade).
Back in class we wrote up our findings on picture maps of our school grounds.
